Why do I need to take my prescribed medication for diabetes?

Thiazolidinediones facilitate increased glucose uptake in fat, muscle and liver cells. Examples of thiazolidinediones include rosiglitazone and pioglitazone.

Thiazolidinediones use is associated with side effects of oedema, weight gain, macular oedema and heart failure. Thiazolidinediones may cause hypoglycaemia and increase bone fracture risk.

Please consult your doctor for any advice on usage of medication to manage diabetes.
